Building on the nautical and beachfront culture of Newport Beach, the landscape design is composed of warm wood tones, clean whites and water conserving plant materials selected for their seasonal variety and kinetic characteristics.

Uptown Newport is a the initial project in a new master planned development in Newport Beach, California. The project, completed by Duane Border Design (a BMLA Company), consists of two mixed-use residential / retail buildings, streetscape improvements and a public paseo to connect residents and visitors to the surrounding community. 

Each building includes a pool deck and generous garden courtyard for outdoor entertaining, lounging and recreation. The pool decks are designed and programmed to the community amenity spaces nearby; the north building pool is more boutique hotel with passive lounges, cabanas and wading spa, the south building includes a lap pool adjacent to the gym and fitness studios. Similar materials and details are used for a unified community, but subtle shifts of organization and textures define each as an independent garden space.
